African Day Celebration, 2023
Africa Day is celebrated around the world annually, marking the establishment of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) and this time the 60th Anniversary. Its aim is to celebrate African diversity, and successes and to highlight the cultural & economic potential that exists on the African Continent. Africa Day's objective is to raise awareness and understanding of developmental issues in Africa and to highlight the cultural richness and diversity of Africa.
Celebrating Africa Day started in Finland initiated by Keijo Mikkanen in 2012, today is the 12th year of doing so. From the start, AFAES and UPF Finland have built respectful and mutual cooperation which has given birth to many different projects and strengthened cooperation among African NGOs.
This year, we have exciting activities that promise to entertain, educate, and inspire. From the thought-provoking panel discussion on the Finnish-African trade to live music performances and kids' activities, there is something for everyone.
Our exhibitions will take you on a journey through the rich and vibrant cultures of Africa, while our fashion show will showcase unique designs from different African cultures. And of course, no celebration of the continent would be complete without its delicious food on display.
So come and immerse yourself in the colours, sounds, and flavours of Africa.
